Deddington Town Colts Tigers had a dramatic last minute win over local rivals Bloxham. The Tigers had much of the early pressure with three corners in the first five minutes, and shots from Toby Sykes and Will Staples. After 11 minutes Josh Kearns capitalised on an error from the goalkeeper to give the Tigers the lead. There was further pressure in the first half, but the Tigers failed to add a second before half time. The Tigers pressed for the winner with chances for Chris Burland and Dan Plumbe, but Bloxham held firm. Then in the 59th minute with the game heading for a draw, Chris Burland broke through to beat the goalkeeper and send the home crowd wild. This was a close match and Bloxham will feel they deserved a draw, but credit to the Tigers for pressing right to the end for that winning goal. Score:  3-0

Report:

The Tigers had a tough match against Charlton, especially after not playing a competitive match since the 20 November due to the snow and ice.  In spite of this, the Tigers put in a fine performance against table-topping Charlton.  Deddington soaked up plenty of pressure in the first half and fine saves from Ben Ward and strong defending from the back four, kept the game goalless at half time.  However, Charlton scored in the 32nd  minute to open the score, and further goals followed in the 47th and 52nd minute to make the final score 3-0.  The Tigers competed well throughout the game, but created few scoring chances against a strong and well-organised Charlton defence.

Teams: Deddington Town Colts Tigers v Hook Norton
Age Group: Under 11s – B League
Score: 0-3

Report:

The Tigers started their step up to 11-a-side football with a tough opening game against a strong and well-organised Hook Norton side. Early Hook Norton pressure brought good saves from keeper Ben Ward. However, in the ninth minute Hook Norton took the lead. However Ben Ward took a knock in a collision with the goal scorer, and had to come off. Jake Hope stepped up to the mark and came on to replace him. Deddington defended comfortably until just before half time, when a shot from former Deddington player Johnnie Parker took a deflection past the keeper. The Tigers played well after half time, and were unlucky not to pull a goal back with William Staples coming close and forcing their keeper to make a number of saves. It was not to be the Tigers day, and with four minutes left, Hook Norton put the game beyond doubt with a close range finish. This was a well-deserved win for Hook Horton, who always looked in control, but there were good all round performances from the Tigers.
