Score: Summertown Stars 4 – 1 Deddington Town
Report:
Bit of a nightmare this one for Town. Started off brightly enough with both teams creating some chances…but yet again its was the opposition who capitalised in the first ten minutes. A corner saw Town poorly defend and go one down. (How many times has that happened this season?) For much of the remainder of the first half Town were probably the better team. Town equalised with a stunning goal. A move from the left by Joe Worrell saw his cross picked up on the right by Chris Deeley who did a text book lay off to Sam Pigott who hammered high into the net nearly taking the keepers head with it!! The second half and Town struggled. Never really out of third gear and struggling to mount a decent attack. To be fair Summertown had a couple of giant as centre halfs who kept snuffing everything out. But if Town had been a bit more physical with them or used the wings a bit better to get round the back of them they might have prevailed. With 15 minutes left Summertown got two quick breakaway goals. Both easy straight up the wings, crossed ball to striker who had matched the run, bang, into the back of the net. Brill. At 3 – 1 down Town woke up and played some great physical , high paced football, and at last started peppering the Summerton goal. Sadly it was all too late. Summertown nicked another with ten minutes to go as Town pushed everyone forward. Understandably deflated there was some light at the end of the tunnel. If Town play like they did in the last quarter of this game in future games they can succeed. Despite the loss some great individual performances today. Noteably Dan Carrington nominated player of the match. Well done all, onwards and upwards.

Date: Sunday 10th October 2010
Location: Away to Hook Norton
Teams: Hook Norton vs Deddington Town
Age Group: U16’s
Score: Hook Norton 2 – 4 Deddington Town
Report:
This game kicked off at 1130 and despite the early start saw a frantic first quarter.
Something of a local derby in as much that some ex Hooky players were playing for Town
ensuring that this game was going to be keenly contested.
And it was Hooky who got off to a flyer…within five minutes they secured a corner from
which they scored. This despite Robin’s plea to his team to keep a clean sheet ‘at least for
quarter of an hour! ‘
Town’s response was swift. A great move forward saw a mega foul disrupt the flowing
football and the ref pointed to the Hooky penalty spot. Despite the ref placing the ball for
Sam, Sam Pigott duly slotted the kick away with fine aplomp!
This spurred Town on. Some ten minutes later Chris Deeley for Town picked up a ball that
crossed the Hooky goal and duly slotted it in to score his dream goal against his old team
mates.
Into the second half , some changes meant that Town were having a bit of a breather
while they settled in. Hooky capitalised and out of the blue Matt Gandy for Hooky skipped
past Will G and shot beautifully past the keeper into the top right hand of the Town net.
It remained 2 – 2 for some time then as Hooky kept breaking down the Town play. It has
to be said Town were making it a shade easy for Hooky by failing to keep possession and
giving the ball away CONTINUALLY, so much so that at one point there was concern that
Robin’s blood pressure would prove fatal!!
Thankfully things were eased when Ryan White ran onto a great through pass and slotted
past the keeper to take it to 2 – 3 to Town.
Then disaster. Will Smith went into a challenge and came out the worst. Clutching his arm
and looking like he’d just been run over by a bus he was helped off the pitch. A subsequent
visit to hospital has confirmed a broken arm!
But what an inspired substitution…Max Watling back on as the new Will Smith scored from
a corner with his first touch!!
The remaining fifteen minutes saw Town dominate with just a couple of scares at the other
end. One such scare resulting in Tom making a fine diving save to deny Hooky.
Great game then, and finally a result that mirrors the efforts of the team.
